Everystory Presents:
Community Matters
One story at a time, we create space for healing, joy, and transformation.

Community Matters brings people together through the art of Playback Theatre to listen, reflect, and connect. In a world filled with disconnection, our program invites both youth and adult community members to share real stories and witness those stories transformed into powerful live performances.

What to Expect

Community Matters performances are 90-minute experiences guided by a shared theme. Audience members are invited to reflect and share personal stories or moments that come to mind. Then our professional ensemble brings those stories to life on stage using music, movement, and improvisation. Bring a willingness to listen, reflect, share, or witness.

For smaller gatherings or school settings, Mini Community Matters offers the same experience in a shorter, 45-minute format.

Why It Matters

Community Matters is more than performance. It’s a catalyst for belonging and emotional connection. Each story performed is both a mirror and a bridge, affirming the storyteller while inviting the audience into a deeper sense of community. Through shared storytelling, participants will:

  • Build empathy by seeing themselves in others
  • Experience validation and psychological safety
  • Reflect on identity, emotions, and lived experiences
  • Discover new ways to relate, communicate, and heal
Who It's For
  • Youth (ages 8–17) and adult community members
  • Schools and afterschool programs
  • Community centers and youth-serving nonprofits
  • Neighborhood and intergenerational groups
  • Organizations looking to build trust, connection, or shared understanding
